Thereare lots of other things that you will enjoy reading about. 1 Make sure the gun is unloaded.
Put any and all ammunition in a separate room from where you are cleaning the gun. Remove the magazine and pull back the slide. Put your finger into the chamber and magazine well to make sure they are empty. 2 Remove the slide latch or take do wn tabs, and pull the slide off the front of the gun.
Remove the spring carefully so that it does not jump out and get lost. Take out the barrel. 3 Wipe off all parts and surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe off all oil, unburnt carbon and any carbon buildup.
Wipe inside the magazine and around the chamber. 4 Apply a small amount of solvent to all of the gun's parts and let them soak for a few minutes. After a few minutes, use a toothbrush to scrub the entire gun. A toothbrush with a pointed tip will help you get into and clean out all of the corners and creases. When you're done scrubbing, wipe the gun down with a soft lint-free cloth. If places on the gun are turning the cloth black, go back and scrub those areas with a little more solvent until they are clean.
5 Use the wire-tipped brush to clean out the barrel. Push the brush down the barrel in the same direction as the bullet leaves the gun. Put a solvent-soaked piece of cloth on the brush and run that through the barrel until it is clean. When it is clean, put a small amount of lubricant on a piece of cloth and run that through the barrel.
6 Wipe the gun until all the solvent is dry. Oil the guide rails and grooves and around the trigger and hammer. If you see wear on the gun, apply oil to the wear spots.
Put the barrel back on and put a few drops of lubricant on the spring. Never over-oil your gun; if you can see oil running on it, there's too much oil and you need to wipe it off. 7 Reassemble the gun and wipe with a clean dry cloth.
OK, first off I am sure, quite sure that this gun has been discussed on here before but, I did a search and I came up with exactly nothing. So I am not sure that the search function is working 100% right now. But, I am in the market for a thin CC gun and I have been looking at the PF9. I have only held one and that was over a year ago and I don't really recall if I liked it or not. But I do like the idea of the gun being less than an inch thick for IWB carry. The set up I am thinking about is a C-TAC Spartan with the PF9.
Should just disappear in the waistband. So, any PF9 owners out there, tell me about it. I carried one for two years and loved it. Mine was 100% from the start and always functioned reliably. It has a LONG, heavy DA trigger pull.
You have to practice to get used to it. It also kicks like a drunken mule. Again, you gotta practice to get your followups quick and on target.
A Hogue slip-on grip helps this little banger a LOT. It's as accurate as you can expect a pocket gun with a 3' barrel to be. It's not a target pistol and you won't win IDPA with it, but it does what it's designed for. It'll shoot +p, although I wouldn't practice with it. Practice with standard loads and run a mag of your carry ammo through it at each session - to keep yourself aware of the extra flash/bang and recoil. I can heartily recommend it. While I must agree that to become totally proficient with any tool, practice is necessary.
That being said, my feeling is that range practice is mostly necessary to make shooting intuitive and almost a gut reaction. For example, on some of my' safe queens', I have to occasionally refer to the owners manual to refresh my memory as to the location and operation of the various safety's. The Kel-Tec is a small, light, inexpensive, reliable example of a 'pull the trigger and it goes bang' defensive weapon.
It is NOT a range gun! It is not terribly accurate at any great distance. Practice is futile and only results in a sore hand.
